Welcome
Welcome to the Construction Forecasts website of the Construction Sector Council (CSC), a national organization made up of partners from labour, business and government that is committed to the development of a highly skilled workforce for Canada’s construction industry.
As a key component of CSC’s comprehensive Labour Market Information (LMI) Program, Construction Forecasts is an online delivery system that provides construction organizations with timely forecast data on residential and non-residential construction investment activity and labour supply and demand, at the national, provincial and regional levels.
On this website, you will find
- comprehensive labour supply and demand forecast data,
- customized tables and graph, and
- links to other relevant data sources.
Specific information found on the Construction Forecasts website includes the economic environment faced by the construction industry in all Canadian provinces, residential and non-residential investment outlook, labour demand and supply forecasts over a 10-year period for more than 30 skilled construction trades, markets for trades and occupations, retirement patterns in construction trades and potential for labour mobility.
The labour market information provided here is as accurate and up-to-date as possible thanks to repeated vetting, validation and refinement by our LMI regional network of committees representing labour and business in all sectors of construction, as well as federal and provincial governments, training and education providers and users of construction services, all of which have their fingers on the pulse of the construction industry.
This information is also published annually in a series of national and regional documents entitled Construction Looking Forward.
I am confident data found on the CSC's Construction Forecasts website will serve as a valuable tool to help Canada’s construction industry make decisions with a good sense of what’s ahead. In the short term, information found here will allow you to respond quickly to your needs. In the medium to long term, it will enable you and other stakeholders, including governments, to make policy changes that will resolve serious issues such as the need for more skilled labour, long before they occur.
We look forward to working with you.
Rosemary Sparks
Executive Director, Construction Sector Council
