The Construction Sector Council (CSC) was created in April 2001 as a national organization committed to the development of a highly skilled workforce to support the current and future needs of the construction industry in Canada.
Based in Ottawa, Ontario, CSC is a partnership between labour and business financed by government and industry.
Early partners included the National Construction Labour Relations Alliance, the Building and Construction Trades Department and its affiliates, and the Canadian Construction Association, which over time has evolved into a broader base of expertise. CSC is governed by a Board of Directors that speak for a variety of interests within the union and non-union construction industry.
